On Thursday September 12th, 2024, SilverFit held its annual online user meeting. This meeting was attended by (geriatric) physiotherapists and other interested parties and was accredited for 3 points by the Physiotherapy Quality House. With 283 registrations, it was a well-attended event. This year’s theme was Fall Prevention 2.0 as a follow-up to the success of the 2023 event. Fall prevention is still a very hot topic that we wanted to give additional attention to. This session addressed the latest (scientific) developments in the field and exchanged experiences and ideas. The presentations addressed various facets involved in fall prevention and explained how the SilverFit systems can be used for this purpose. We are very grateful for the presentations delivered by our external speakers:
- Liesbeth Prellor, Epidemiologist at the Sports & Exercise Knowledge Centre. She spoke about structural exercise provision for seniors and the importance, challenges and role of the physiotherapist.
- Joris Wiersinga, CEO of SilverFit. He talked about the new developments in virtual therapy.
- Mirjam Pijnappels, professor of behavioral and movement sciences at the Free University of Amsterdam, specializes in fall prevention/stumbling in the elderly. She talked about technological developments in the field of fall prevention.
- Marjolein Kuijt, physiotherapist and fall prevention expert, Senior Lecturer at VeiligheidNL. She presented on falls and fear of falling.
- Ame Harris, Product Owner and Physiotherapist and Marten Boverhof, Account Manager and Physiotherapist at SilverFit. They talked about the Fall Hazard diagnosis menu and gave tips on how the SilverFit 3D can be used for fall prevention.
